Background

The Iteso Cultural Union will hold HRH Emorimor III's 4th Coronation Anniversary in Amagoro, Kenya. It aims to strengthen cooperation amongst all the Iteso and to foster collaboration with other kingdoms across Uganda and Kenya. The celebration contributes towards building our palace in Teso and peaceful coexistence among our people. The activity will be implemented by the Iteso Cultural Union with support from the Government of Uganda under the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, local governments and partners.

Why it matters

The coronation anniversary is a forum to mobilise funds for the construction of the palace and to promote cultural tourism. The celebration will also be used to explore business partnerships and to source sponsors to fund the palace construction.

Who attends

Business people, academia, political leaders, civil servants, cultural leaders, opinion leaders, development partners, foreign dignitaries and the media, among others.

Objectives
  • Main objective: to popularise and explore areas of financing for the palace construction.
  • To involve clan leaders in supporting the palace construction.
  • To source partners and sponsors through a business symposium and forum.
  • To involve the local leadership and other stakeholders in supporting the palace construction.
  • To showcase Teso traditional dances, dishes and artifacts.
  • Talent identification from the teams that qualify to take part in the Emorimor Games.
